Sedan 2018 ersätter ISO 45001:2018 den tidigare standarden OHSAS 18001 som standard för arbetsmiljö. OHSAS 18001 blir ISO 45001 Från Januari 2018 kommer OHSAS 18001 ersättas av ISO 45001 . För organisationer som är certifierade enligt OHSAS 18001 kommer det innebära att din organisation behöver certifieras enligt ISO 45001 med en övergångsperiod på cirka 3 år. The OHSAS 18001 transition deadline is the 21st of March 2021.

Planen är att den ska publiceras under 2016 och den kommer då att få namnet ISO 45001. Standarden kommer att ha samma gemensamma struktur som ISO 9001 och ISO 14001 (strukturen kallades tidigare ”High Level Structure” men kallas numera ”Annex SL”).
